The first thing anyone sees when they open up your webpage is its banner. Whether its good or bad, the banner is emblazoned across the visitors screen the second they enter. For this reason its essential it makes the right impression.
To create an impressive banner one of the first things that you, as a web designer should ask yourself is ‘what do I want the banner to say about the site?’
This may seem like a straight forward question initially, but there are some deeper levels to it. For one, it is not what the banner literally says that gives it its meaning. A website banner which says ‘Cats and Kittens US’ might not be sending the message it is intending to.
Nuances like grammar and word spacing can change the meaning of certain things. Is ‘Cats and Kittens US’ about the United States? Or is it a personal website, hence the US? Care and consideration should be taken into account when making these important design choices.
